Fast: Day 2 Scriptures : Repent

“Prayer & Fasting Day Two: Keep it real today. Confess your faults. Do something about them. The LORD will help you. Call on Him in all sincerity. Repent of all your sins – sins of commission and omission. Change your heart and mind completely forsaking every ungodly way to walk in the light of Jesus Christ.” -Pastor Lawrence Powell

Even you aren’t participating with us, what Pastor is calling for us to do during this time of prayer and fasting is honestly something we ALL should do ALL the time!  Take a look at the suggested scripture readings for today if you didn’t catch them earlier! God Bless!

Matthew 4:17 (New International Version, ©2010)

17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Romans 6:1 (New International Version, ©2010)

Romans 6

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

Romans 6:11-14 (New International Version, ©2010)

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

2 Corinthians 7:8-11 (New International Version, ©2010)

8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

John 1:5-10 (New International Version, ©2010)

5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Revelation 2

To the Church in Ephesus

1 “To the angel[a] of the church in Ephesus write:

These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.   4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

Revelation 3

To the Church in Sardis

1 “To the angel[a] of the church in Sardis write:   These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits[b] of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.
