DON’T FRET MY PET!

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.{1 Peter 5:7}

Remember that from the show Family Matters?! Oh that Steve Erkel, he was great wasn’t he? Always had a positive attitude, never gave up pursuing Laura Winslow, would always get kicked out with class lol!  Can you imagine what happened when he was alone with his thoughts? If he became depressed, sad, angry, frustrated, what he would tell himself when no one was around?  He always seemed to have a winning attitude ; Always saw the glass half full.

I know your wondering what in the world am I talking about 🙂 but hear me out! There are so many people who are rejected by ones that they love, not paid attention to, they are depressed, angry, bitter, disappointed and resentful. These are all symptoms of someone whose heart has grown hard and cold. I read something that I wanted to share with you from Joyce Meyer:

“If you think you cannot enjoy life because of a repetitive problem–a certain person you deal with regularly or an unpleasant task you often need to do–you can choose to make the best out of life in spite of the problem/situation. Wherever we set our mind, our emotions follow. For instance, the longer you think about someone or something that causes you to become upset, the more angry you are liable to become. You can change from being totally calm to emotionally violent because of what you choose to think about and dwell on.”

“There are spirits linked to those problems and situations. So many of the problems afflicting us are spirits coming out of hell to attack and try to destroy us!  The devil uses these ongoing problems to squeeze the joy out of our lives by getting us in a pattern of dread.”

Stop giving the enemy so much of your power. We give him way too much credit for things that we are in full control of because our emotions and thoughts; our hearts, minds and bodies belong to God. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  {Isaiah 55:8} So why are we allowing the enemy to fill our heads with thoughts that don’t even compare to what God has in store for us?

I want you to know that life is WAY TOO SHORT for you to walk around feeling dreadful and depressed. If you don’t like your environment then change it. Don’t like the people your around…dump em’. Sounds harsh, but you have to do what you have to do to save your sanity and keep peace around you. You cannot fulfill your destiny carrying  junk and luggage on your back. Everyone’s problems are not your obligation. You can be aware but not involved. Live the life that you desire most. Steve Erkel could have easily fell into a deep, dark depression…but thanks to some positive thinking writers 😉 we were able to view a positive thinker in action. Sure Steve became sad and often felt defeated but he had a “light bulb” moment occur that would snap him back to reality. Your “light bulb” moment could be confronting whatever issues you’ve been dreading, it could be conquering something you have feared, recommitting yourself to failed relationships, business ventures or goals, it could be cutting someone out of your life or just taking sometime to yourself to clear your thoughts. You can also find a “light bulb” moment in your Word and through prayer with God.

Sure this all sounds great on screen, no one ever said making sacrifices would be easy, but change and transition are necessary to your growth and development. So don’t fret my pets…it’s ALL good! You are in good, very capable, enormous hands!

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. {Matthew 11:28}
