LIVING IN A NEVERLAND

*sigh* Remember the story of Peter Pan? Living in a land where humans can fly in the air and live with no cares or worries. Wouldn’t that be great? Peter spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as the leader of his gang the Lost Boys.

Have you ever known someone who lives the life they have created in their mind; The life that is their reality? Have you ever read someone’s Facebook status or Tweet and scratched your head after reading it? What drives people to be one way in the public eye and another way behind closed doors?

Unfortunately, it seems we live in a world plagued with showcasing and maintaining an image. People are used to sweeping dirt and grime under a rug and walking over it daily; believing in the idea “out of sight, out of mind.” The problem with living a life like this is the energy involved with the upkeep of a facade. It takes an exorbitant amount of energy to be someone you are not, to live a life that is not yours and to portray a story that is fiction.

Now I definitely don’t have the answer to the age old question “Who are You?”; only you can truly answer that. What I can tell you is the only way to live a life of truth and pure joy is to lift the rug, sweep out the dust and grime, deal with your issues full force and head on and press forward! Jesus never told us that we would not have trials and tribulations, He told us to be of good cheer, because He has already overcame them all. There is no need to run away from troubles and realities – we must stand confidently in front of them, stare them down and regain the victory over our lives!

All an eagle would really like, is a teapot

DON’T FRET MY PET!

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.{1 Peter 5:7}

Remember that from the show Family Matters?! Oh that Steve Erkel, he was great wasn’t he? Always had a positive attitude, never gave up pursuing Laura Winslow, would always get kicked out with class lol!  Can you imagine what happened when he was alone with his thoughts? If he became depressed, sad, angry, frustrated, what he would tell himself when no one was around?  He always seemed to have a winning attitude ; Always saw the glass half full.

I know your wondering what in the world am I talking about 🙂 but hear me out! There are so many people who are rejected by ones that they love, not paid attention to, they are depressed, angry, bitter, disappointed and resentful. These are all symptoms of someone whose heart has grown hard and cold. I read something that I wanted to share with you from Joyce Meyer:

“If you think you cannot enjoy life because of a repetitive problem–a certain person you deal with regularly or an unpleasant task you often need to do–you can choose to make the best out of life in spite of the problem/situation. Wherever we set our mind, our emotions follow. For instance, the longer you think about someone or something that causes you to become upset, the more angry you are liable to become. You can change from being totally calm to emotionally violent because of what you choose to think about and dwell on.”

“There are spirits linked to those problems and situations. So many of the problems afflicting us are spirits coming out of hell to attack and try to destroy us!  The devil uses these ongoing problems to squeeze the joy out of our lives by getting us in a pattern of dread.”

Stop giving the enemy so much of your power. We give him way too much credit for things that we are in full control of because our emotions and thoughts; our hearts, minds and bodies belong to God. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  {Isaiah 55:8} So why are we allowing the enemy to fill our heads with thoughts that don’t even compare to what God has in store for us?

I want you to know that life is WAY TOO SHORT for you to walk around feeling dreadful and depressed. If you don’t like your environment then change it. Don’t like the people your around…dump em’. Sounds harsh, but you have to do what you have to do to save your sanity and keep peace around you. You cannot fulfill your destiny carrying  junk and luggage on your back. Everyone’s problems are not your obligation. You can be aware but not involved. Live the life that you desire most. Steve Erkel could have easily fell into a deep, dark depression…but thanks to some positive thinking writers 😉 we were able to view a positive thinker in action. Sure Steve became sad and often felt defeated but he had a “light bulb” moment occur that would snap him back to reality. Your “light bulb” moment could be confronting whatever issues you’ve been dreading, it could be conquering something you have feared, recommitting yourself to failed relationships, business ventures or goals, it could be cutting someone out of your life or just taking sometime to yourself to clear your thoughts. You can also find a “light bulb” moment in your Word and through prayer with God.

Sure this all sounds great on screen, no one ever said making sacrifices would be easy, but change and transition are necessary to your growth and development. So don’t fret my pets…it’s ALL good! You are in good, very capable, enormous hands!

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. {Matthew 11:28}

I can remember a time when my life was solely based on pleasing others…yep, I was a “yes mayum”. It seemed that I only found comfort in who I was if people liked me, or admired me for something. I loved me when someone else loved who I was, I thought I was pretty when someone else told me I was pretty, I thought I was smart if someone told me I was smart.  For some reason it was difficult to believe these things on my own accord. I began searching for my purpose in what people defined and categorized me as. “She said I was great with kids, maybe I’ll become a teacher”, “Your really nice and caring Jennifer, maybe you should become a nurse”. I moved about life in this matter and thought nothing of it. It was only when I started to read the Word and understand just…

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,300 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

TIME IS PRECIOUS

On Average…

108 people die every minute across the world.

250 babies are born every minute.

The average Facebook user spends 24 hours a month on Facebook. (Notice I said average LOL – we all know people who spend WAY more time on FB!)

44,481 tweets occur per minute.

Oprah makes $523 a minute.

3 violent crimes are committed in the United States.

There are 9 new HIV infections.

Every SECOND 750,000 gallons of water flow over Niagra Falls.
Every SECOND 1,978 videos are watched on YouTube.
210 minutes are spent in the bathroom.
An average American spends about 100,000 hours working in their lifetime.
With so much going around you every second, minute and over the course of a lifetime I pose the question to you…what are you doing with you time?  Things are happening, people are accomplishing things, babies are being born, people are getting married – all of these things are occurring on a daily basis. What are you doing with your time?
It might take you about 5 minutes to read this post and in that time 540 people have died. What are you going to do within the next 5 minutes of your life (after reading this post LOL :)) to ensure you are going to leave an impact on someone’s life? Now I’m sure your wondering, “what can I do in 5 minutes that will make an impact on your or someone’s life?” You can hug someone, you can call someone you have not talked to in sometime, pay for someone’s lunch, you can pray (prayer changes things!),  take sometime from social networking and spend time with your family, you could help around the house or clean up you living space,  you can apologize to someone, you can decide to forgive someone, you could even start researching something you have been interested in doing for sometime.
How are you prioritizing your 24 gifted hours? Notice I said gifted…your life is not guaranteed. How are you dividing up your 1,440 minutes everyday. Every minute that you are able to inhale and exhale are valuable gifts. Are you wasting them? Time is something that you can never get back once it’s gone. Are you making the most of your time?

YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT HANDS MY FRIENDS

Ever feel like everyone around you is prospering and succeeding and yet they are not living right? They aren’t saved, or they’re mean and rude and probably don’t deserve anything they are getting? You on the other hand are saved, tithe, love and obey the Lord AND you manage to save baby animals on the weekends and can’t seem to catch a break? Finding yourself a little jealous or envious maybe? Psalm 73 is for you. Read it and know you are on the right track AND in the right hands!

Be blessed friends!

Psalm 73

1-5 No doubt about it! God is good— good to good people, good to the good-hearted.
But I nearly missed it,
missed seeing his goodness.
I was looking the other way,
looking up to the people
At the top,
envying the wicked who have it made,
Who have nothing to worry about,
not a care in the whole wide world.

6-10 Pretentious with arrogance,
they wear the latest fashions in violence,
Pampered and overfed,
decked out in silk bows of silliness.
They jeer, using words to kill;
they bully their way with words.
They’re full of hot air,
loudmouths disturbing the peace.
People actually listen to them—can you believe it?
Like thirsty puppies, they lap up their words.

11-14 What’s going on here? Is God out to lunch?
Nobody’s tending the store.
The wicked get by with everything;
they have it made, piling up riches.
I’ve been stupid to play by the rules;
what has it gotten me?
A long run of bad luck, that’s what—
a slap in the face every time I walk out the door.

15-20 If I’d have given in and talked like this,
I would have betrayed your dear children.
Still, when I tried to figure it out,
all I got was a splitting headache . . .
Until I entered the sanctuary of God.
Then I saw the whole picture:
The slippery road you’ve put them on,
with a final crash in a ditch of delusions.
In the blink of an eye, disaster!
A blind curve in the dark, and—nightmare!
We wake up and rub our eyes….Nothing.
There’s nothing to them. And there never was.

21-24 When I was beleaguered and bitter,
totally consumed by envy,
I was totally ignorant, a dumb ox
in your very presence.
I’m still in your presence,
but you’ve taken my hand.
You wisely and tenderly lead me,
and then you bless me.

25-28 You’re all I want in heaven!
You’re all I want on earth!
When my skin sags and my bones get brittle,
God is rock-firm and faithful.
Look! Those who left you are falling apart!
Deserters, they’ll never be heard from again.
But I’m in the very presence of God—
oh, how refreshing it is!
I’ve made Lord God my home.
God, I’m telling the world what you do!

IT’S NOVEMBER!

It is November! Can you believe it?! October was a month of celebrations, triumphs, disappointments, new discoveries and eye- opening revelations for some of us. For some, November represents so much for than a new month, it represents a new beginning. With the new year quickly approaching it is time to get an action plan in place. Time is waiting for no one…no not even you!

With the November being the 11th month, I was disappointed to read that the number 11 was sometimes associated with imperfection, disorganization or disorder. So I immediately claimed the opposite over our lives. I know that God is not a God of confusion or disorder, He only wants the best for us. So I am delighted to inform you that  November gets it’s name after the Latin word ‘novem’ which means nine; as it used to be the ninth month on the Roman calendar. But what I found to be very interesting (and exciting) is the number 9 represents fruitfulness it has also been known to represent the “perfect move of God”, number of harmony, it represents the inspiration and the perfection of the ideas! How is that for a change of events?!

Declare that this month will be a month of unfair advantages, unlimited access, undeserved appointments and unlimited anointing! Declare that this month that represents harmony and the perfection of ideas brings unimaginable peace, favor and incredible opportunities to network and meet people who will be a blessing to you. Say to yourself that this month will bring forth fruit! You will be fruitful in your home, your finances, on the job! This month you will find the job God has for you! You will start the business you’ve longed for!  You are blessed & highly favored! All good things will come to you in abundance. Release all of your problems to God and shift your focus to creating something great. You will recieve all that you have been praying & working for. Release all thoughts of lack, limitation and fear from your mind. Embrace your power, seek wisdom and allow yourself to be led by the Spirit of God within you. You are beautifully and wonderfully created for GREATNESS by a GREAT GOD! REPEAT IT- SAY IT- TYPE IT- SHARE IT – get it in your spirit!

Make November the beginning of something great. Take your expectancy level higher than it’s ever been before! It’s so easy for negative thoughts and depression to creep in. You must be steadfast and be determined to live your best life; the life that God has planned for you. Make this the month to sweep dirt from under your rug and face your destiny with a clean house. Clear your mind, get into that special place; ask God for a clean heart so that your blessings can be released in abundance! Just like the picture above, the path you are walking on is indeed a journey, but it is a beautiful one. Don’t be so caught up in sadness, depression and resentment that you miss the beauty of your walk with God. The Bible says that, “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” {Matthew 7:14} and you my friend are walking the path. Although it was never promised that it would be easy, the reward is great. “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” {Psalm 16:11}

I pray God fills you with unspeakable joy and fills every void like only He can. I pray he turns your situation completely around and causes you to be blown away! He will do it – just receive it and have faith in Him!

I know this is going to be an awesome month for all of us!

Happy November 1st!

Love Ya!

9 SERVINGS OF FRUIT

Contrary to what your nutritionist will tell you, I am writing to tell you that today you need to have 9 servings of fruit; everyday. That’s right…9 heaping servings of the best fruit in town. I am not talking apples and oranges, I am talking about the 9 fruits of the Spirit.

The 9 fruits of the Spirit are vital to our spiritual walk and our daily fight against the world and our flesh. Not sure what I’m talkin’ about…? Read on and let the Word explain.

Galatians 5:13-26
Life by the Spirit

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

So what does all of this mean?

LOVE: The Holy Spirit imparts to us the virtue of LOVE.Love radiates from a spirit filled person. A church which is truly spirit filled overflows with love. A distinguishing mark of a true disciple of Christ is love. As it is written in John 13:35 :”All men will know that you are mY disciples, if you love one another.”

JOY: A spirit-filled person has joy on his heart. Joy and pleasure are two different things. A person maybe suffering from a chain of misfortune but still have joy in his heart.

PEACE: Another wonderful virtue imparted to us b the Holy Spirit is PEACE, which is actually the peace of Jesus Christ as it is written in John 14:27 ; ” Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives.” Despite the uncertainties of the future, despite the various problems attacking our economy, despite the present upheavals in our society, a spirit-filled Christian could still remain relaxed, calm, serene. Because the peace of JesusChrist is in his/her heart.

PATIENCE: Longsuffering is synanimous to patient and enduring. Longsuffering is one of the virtues possessed by God so by Christ also. As Christians, longsuffering must be one of our virtues. We must be longsuffering with the weaknesses of out brothers and sisters in the faith. We must be longsuffering with the people we are leading to Christ.

KINDNESS: Kindness is synanimous to compassion, generosity, goodness of heart, goodness in deeds or actions. As we become controlled by the Holy Spirit, true kindness radiates from us . We become more considerate to people,we become compassionate to the needy, to the lost.

GOODNESS: Goodness is one of the virtues imparted to us by the Holy Spirit. We could only function well as Christian if we allow the Holy Spirit to control us. We can become the good trees that produce good fruits as the Holy Spirit controls us. The word is synanimous to suitable or worthy.

FAITHFULNESS: God is ever faithful to us at all times though sometimes we fail. As we are filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit, the virtue is reflected upon us. We also become faithful to him. We become faithful to our commitment to others. Faithfulness in not inherent in man, it is only a God-given virtue.

GENTLENESS: Gentleness is synanimous to meekness. Jesus claimed meekness for himself and significantly coupled it with being “lowly in heart.” His meekness is worthy of our imitation. Meekness of a Christian is displayed by accepting God’s dealings with us as good without any resistance. This is a display of lowliness before God and humility before men.

SELF-CONTROL: Self-control is a discipline, but it cannot be imposed from an outside source. Self-control cannot be achieved by training rather self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The spiritual Christian has this quality, not as a result of will power or effort but as a result of the work of the Holy Spirit in his lives. Jesus excercised much self-control during his earthly life. A spirit-controlled Christian has self-control in all aspects of his/her life. He has self-control in his thoughts, words, deeds, emotions. he knows well how to handle his emotions and thoughts. He is an emotionally mature person.

You should want to possess the 9 fruits of the Spirit all day e’rr day LOL! 🙂 Let all things you do glorify God and shine through!

Love Ya!
