Ask God to give you a dream

“Your old men shall dream dreams.” Joel 2:28 NKJVThe Bible says: “Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” When God gives you a dream, He gives you the resources and relationships needed to fulfill it. Not everybody will believe in your dream. Paul writes: “What if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar” (Ro 3:3-4 NKJV). If your dream is from God, disregard the naysayers and give yourself fully to it. Just be sure your dream is from God: (1) It can’t be born out of somebody else’s wishes. Sometimes your dream is actually somebody else’s desire for you. Parents do this. They want to relive some part of their life through you, so they push you to do something they themselves always wanted to do. That sets you up for a lifetime of trying to please your father and mother, to get their approval even though you’re now an adult. Then one day you wake up and realize you’re trying to live somebody else’s dream. It may actually have been God’s plan for your mother or father, but now you’re stuck with it. Get unstuck! Ask God for your own dream! (2) It can’t be born out of wrong motives—like pride or jealousy or anger or rejection or competitiveness. Are you trying to prove something to somebody? Are you trying to win their admiration and respect? Are you trying to make up for being rejected? Acknowledge your motives, ask God to heal your heart, then ask Him for a dream that He can back up!

Aren’t you excited!!!? LOL! Well I am 🙂

So while I was gone…I did what I always do and that’s OBSERVE! I am constantly watching, thinking and pondering–I wonder what people are thinking when they do what they do, or go where they go…you know, normal stuff lol! Anyway, while I was people watching, I noticed there were some people laughing, some appeared angry, others were lost in their own thoughts, some were reading, while others were singing to their favorite tune on the radio.

I know….your wondering, “Jennifer, where are you going with this besides the fact that you’ve proven your a snooper ;)” My point is that while your home mulling over your lost job, angry at your spouse or family member, crying over the loser that just broke up with you 10 minutes ago, thinking about your next move in life, the world is moving and it’s not stopping to wait for you. So how are you spending each of the 1,440 minutes that you are given each day? ( By the way thanks for spending 5 of them with me! ;))

Somewhere in the world right now someone is starting the business that you have been thinking about, someone is finally taking the steps to get their degree, someone is nurturing their passion, people are networking, people are laughing at corny jokes, people are loving, people are building legacies for future generations; bottom line…the world is moving ahead with or without you, so why not move forward; actually… propel forward? What would you have to lose? You’ve wasted time thinking about your future..its time for you to start putting your thoughts into action.

Let’s all make a commitment as we continue to excel in 2011 to pursue our goals. How about a small homework assignment? Don’t worry it won’t be hard! This assignment is great for individuals, couples, families, chilrens (lol children if you didn’t get it :))… I encourage you to partner with your significant other/families and do this project together. It’s important to have individual goals as well as a goal for your family unit to strive for.

Take out a sheet of paper, grab your laptop or iPad–list 2 goals that you want to achieve before the end of this year. If you don’t have 2 or if you have more than 2 that’s okay…list them no matter what they are. Maybe you want a car, save a certain amount of money, move to your own place/a new state, lose weight, speak another language, travel somewhere, be nicer, stop cursing lol whatever it is…list your goals.

Now, list 3 goals you want to achieve by June 2013. These will be your long term goals…goals that may take a little longer to achieve but can still be done.

That wasn’t too hard right?! Now please don’t get it twisted…once you write your goals down, make it a point to PRAY over them. Your not going to accomplish anything with greatness without help from God. Ask Him to help you. God only wants the best for you, so if your goals line up with His, his plan of action is much better than yours…trust me!

Let these goals be with you…tape them on your bathroom/bedroom mirror, make them your phone or laptop’s wallpaper,  keep the list in your purse or wallet so that it’s easy to keep your eyes on the prize.

Don’t let the world pass you by. You have so much greatness inside of you, stir it up and let the world catch up with you!

Start small with your goals and soon you’ll be crossing things off your list! If you feel like sharing your goals…email them to and you can be featured in my next entry! Your courage and determination to chase down your dream can motivate someone else to pursue what they only envisioned. It will be great to see what we are all striving to accomplish by the end of this year!

I love you all dearly! Here’s to getting up, getting motivated and truly living up to our potential!!
