Sounds horrible doesn’t it? You could never imagine saying some of those things to others, never mind yourself right?! Yet most of you say those same things to yourselves on a daily basis. I’ll be the first to admit I have said some of those very things to myself. If were not telling ourselves some of those mean things, I’m sure we all can think of someone who has said something they shouldn’t have to us.

We are told in Proverbs 18:21, our tongues hold the power of life and death. We ALL know this, but still struggle with idea of speaking life into our OWN situations. We find it easier to believe and speak into others’ lives that God will do for them what he seems to take forever to do for us. We are quick to scold someone for speaking negative thoughts, while we struggle to find the positives in our situations. We all will fall, but it’s up to us to get back up and keep pushing toward our ultimate goals. Okay…sounds “cliche” right? I have something for you- I want you to meet Heather Dorniden. Watch this video…

When I first saw this video, I was so inspired. I was quickly reminded that this race represents so many of our stories. How many times do we find ourselves at the top of our game only to fall flat on our faces? To make things worse, Heather was in the lead going into the final lap! Instead of having a pity party, walking off the track, crying and whining, Heather picked herself up and finished the race. But not only did she finish the race, she finished with even more vigor than when she began. She used her fall to push her further into her victory. Can you imagine if Heather had negative thoughts about herself after she fell on the track? She would have NEVER pulled herself up and finished. I bet Heather spoke positive words to herself, she had faith, hope and she had a vision. She never lost sight of her goal…which was to finish the race.

We are all reminded to have faith, for,” Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” {Hebrews 11:1} for “Faith with out works is dead.” {James 2:14}. Are you seeing how these two go hand in hand? Having faith gives you the confidence you need to believe that what you hope for will happen, which in turn will push you forward to do the work, toward the vision that you have in front of you. Along your journey you will hit bumps in the road and you may even fall, but you must SPEAK LIFE! Speak life into your finances, your marriage, your life, your self-esteem, your job situation…whatever it may be! SO:

  • You are NICE…
  • You are SMART…
  • You are SOMEBODY…
  • You are HEALTHY…
  • You are AMAZING…
  • You are INTELLIGENT…
  • Your marriage/relationship will BE THE BEST IT’S EVER BEEN…

You will be alright friends…just remember it could be a WHOLE lot worse!

One of our biggest challenges in calming the  multiple thoughts that we have on a daily basis. From how we look, what were going to eat, how we feel about ourselves at any particular moment, someone who is bothering us, regretting decisions that we might have made or didn’t make, someone we offended or vice versa….your mind is in heavy rotation ALL day. Like anything else as Christians, we must bring our thoughts under the submission of Christ. It is imperative to renew your mind as well as your spirit; when we don’t we allow ourselves to head down a path that may lead to depression, sadness, confusion, anxiety and fear- all of which are the complete opposite of what God has lined up for us. Much like a cell phone needs a charger to stay “alive”, you MUST stay connected to God to feel re-energized. It’s essential for us to stay connected to the One who will organize every thought that floats between our ears. 🙂

So I wanted to share a declaration with you. I want you to say it and allow it to settle on your heart, allow God to renew your mind. I have copied this same declaration everywhere in my vision. Its a wallpaper on my iPad and cell phone, I have it taped in front of my Bible and on a post it next to my bed –  and I encourage you to do the same! So clear the cloudy thoughts you may be having…and make room for the sunshine!

Renew Your Mind:

I dedicate myself to renewing my mind by reading, meditating and speaking God’s Word.It is my desire to keep my mind clear from anything that would hurt or weaken me spiritually.

I choose to think about good things and I refuse thoughts that are negative. I will not let doubt, worry or fear pollute my mind. I will be quick to respond to wrong thoughts by replacing them with proper thoughts and by speaking God’s Word over my life.

I refuse to fill my mind with the poison of gossip, backbiting and jealousy. I will guard and protect my mind by making a decision to meditate on God’s Word  so that I may be receptive to God’s voice and ever ready to do His will. I consecrate my mind, my will and my emotions to God, for His service.

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. {Philippians 4:8 The Message}

a.  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. {Philippians 4:8 NIV}

3. The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Repeat after me…and remember life and death are in the power of the tongue!! {Proverbs 18:21}:

I will choose to live a godly life before my family and friends. I am disciplined concerning the priorities of my life. I have God’s wisdom and discernment concerning all my decisions.

I am loving, caring and compassionate toward others. I keep my cool during times of stress and do not become frustrated and lose my temper. If I do something that is wrong or offensive, I am quick to repent. I walk in love at all times, and I am quick to provide encouragement and inspiration to those who need it.

I know the voice of the Holy Spirit and I am quick to obey His voice. God’s presence and peace adorn my life like a beautiful gown. God’s grace and favor are a crown upon my head. His goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.

No matter what happens today, know that God will see you through. The Holy Spirit will give you wisdom and discernment regarding every decision you need to make today.

You are the head and not the tail; You are above and not beneath. You are blessed coming in and blessed going out. You are ready for anything and equal to anything through Christ Jesus. He always causes you to triumph. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. You are strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Today is going to be a great day!

My inspiration came from cows…yes cows LOL! As you all know I was traveling over the holiday; we drove to New Jersey for Christmas. (pics coming soon lol!) It was on our way home that I became inspired from watching the cows on the side of the road.  They looked so bored munching on hay(yes I am serious LOL! :)), they sit back and watch millions of people pass them by, on their way to their destinations while they continue to do the same thing every – single – day. I immediately thought about those that may feel their lives had no purpose or if they felt stagnant. I began to think about  so many others who become restless and discouraged when their purpose is unclear. It’s easy to become sad and angry when your life starts to become redundant with the constant thought, “what is my purpose?”

So…let’s take a look at the life of a cow:

  • they do the same thing everyday
  • they eat grass and hay
  • they don’t sing, talk or dance
  • they don’t get married or go on dates
  • they don’t have family reunions
  • they don’t shop on black friday
  • Chick-fil-a hangs them from their billboards
  • they don’t wear the latest fashions. (in fact, sometimes they are the latest fashion!)
  • they don’t watch flat screens or read books or have a Wii

Sounds like a pretty boring life right?!  BUT…they have a purpose and although it may not seem like much to you, God created them for a reason. So if cows have purpose…my friend, so do you.

There is nothing holding you back from accomplishing your goals. You are uniquely and wonderfully made in the image of God. You are perfectly detailed, your life is orchestrated in such a way that it WILL directly affect someone and glorify God. Whether it’s opening a business, being the best parent you could be, going to school, becoming a chef, traveling the world, building cars, fixing computers, singing songs, writing a book, becoming a teacher, building houses, being the best manager or sales associate, designing clothes, being an encourager to others, or  becoming a nurse or doctor – whatever it is we ALL have a purpose. NO job or talent is insignificant in the kingdom of God. There is someone in need of your gift.

Yet we let fear hold us back from pursuing our purpose. We allow the discouraging words of others hinder us from chasing our dreams. Please remember that you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. That means there is NOTHING that you can’t do without Christ in your corner. It’s already been spoken over your life…no weapons of any kind formed against you shall prosper…so what are you afraid of?!  We sit back and wait…and wait…stop procrastinating! GET MOO-VIN! <–cow humor LOL!

There are exactly 2 days left until we embark on a new year. Spend the next 2 days setting your goals and expectations, weeding out people and old habits, getting focused and determined on living your absolute BEST life.

There is a Nike ad out that says:

“Yesterday, you said tomorrow. Just do it”

Stop putting off for tomorrow what you can do today; after all, tomorrow is not promised. There would be nothing worse than if you lived like a cow and watched the world pass you by. GET MOO-VIN!!! <—(i had to say it again LOL!!)

With so much going around you every second, minute and over the course of a lifetime I pose the question to you…what are you doing with you time?  Things are happening, people are accomplishing things, babies are being born, people are getting married – all of these things are occurring on a daily basis. What are you doing with your time?
It might take you about 5 minutes to read this post and in that time 540 people have died. What are you going to do within the next 5 minutes of your life (after reading this post LOL :)) to ensure you are going to leave an impact on someone’s life? Now I’m sure your wondering, “what can I do in 5 minutes that will make an impact on your or someone’s life?” You can hug someone, you can call someone you have not talked to in sometime, pay for someone’s lunch, you can pray (prayer changes things!),  take sometime from social networking and spend time with your family, you could help around the house or clean up you living space,  you can apologize to someone, you can decide to forgive someone, you could even start researching something you have been interested in doing for sometime.
How are you prioritizing your 24 gifted hours? Notice I said gifted…your life is not guaranteed. How are you dividing up your 1,440 minutes everyday. Every minute that you are able to inhale and exhale are valuable gifts. Are you wasting them? Time is something that you can never get back once it’s gone. Are you making the most of your time?

28 Days ’til 2012…

Hello friends!!

We have 28 days until the year 2012…can you believe it?!

As we count down to the 1st…let us all stand firm and believe God for an amazing finish to 2011 and mind blowing beginning to 2012!

I share with you today…Deuteronomy 28: 1-14…

Deuteronomy 28

1-6 If you listen obediently to the Voice of God, your God, and heartily obey all his commandments that I command you today, God, your God, will place you on high, high above all the nations of the world. All these blessings will come down on you and spread out beyond you because you have responded to the Voice of God, your God:

God’s blessing inside the city,
God’s blessing in the country;
God’s blessing on your children,
the crops of your land,
the young of your livestock,
the calves of your herds,
the lambs of your flocks.
God’s blessing on your basket and bread bowl;
God’s blessing in your coming in,
God’s blessing in your going out.

7 God will defeat your enemies who attack you. They’ll come at you on one road and run away on seven roads.

8 God will order a blessing on your barns and workplaces; he’ll bless you in the land that God, your God, is giving you.

9 God will form you as a people holy to him, just as he promised you, if you keep the commandments of God, your God, and live the way he has shown you.

10 All the peoples on Earth will see you living under the Name of God and hold you in respectful awe.

11-14 God will lavish you with good things: children from your womb, offspring from your animals, and crops from your land, the land that God promised your ancestors that he would give you. God will throw open the doors of his sky vaults and pour rain on your land on schedule and bless the work you take in hand. You will lend to many nations but you yourself won’t have to take out a loan. God will make you the head, not the tail; you’ll always be the top dog, never the bottom dog, as you obediently listen to and diligently keep the commands of God, your God, that I am commanding you today. Don’t swerve an inch to the right or left from the words that I command you today by going off following and worshiping other gods.



Ever feel like everyone around you is prospering and succeeding and yet they are not living right? They aren’t saved, or they’re mean and rude and probably don’t deserve anything they are getting? You on the other hand are saved, tithe, love and obey the Lord AND you manage to save baby animals on the weekends and can’t seem to catch a break? Finding yourself a little jealous or envious maybe? Psalm 73 is for you. Read it and know you are on the right track AND in the right hands!

Psalm 73

1-5 No doubt about it! God is good— good to good people, good to the good-hearted.
But I nearly missed it,
missed seeing his goodness.
I was looking the other way,
looking up to the people
At the top,
envying the wicked who have it made,
Who have nothing to worry about,
not a care in the whole wide world.

6-10 Pretentious with arrogance,
they wear the latest fashions in violence,
Pampered and overfed,
decked out in silk bows of silliness.
They jeer, using words to kill;
they bully their way with words.
They’re full of hot air,
loudmouths disturbing the peace.
People actually listen to them—can you believe it?
Like thirsty puppies, they lap up their words.

11-14 What’s going on here? Is God out to lunch?
Nobody’s tending the store.
The wicked get by with everything;
they have it made, piling up riches.
I’ve been stupid to play by the rules;
what has it gotten me?
A long run of bad luck, that’s what—
a slap in the face every time I walk out the door.

15-20 If I’d have given in and talked like this,
I would have betrayed your dear children.
Still, when I tried to figure it out,
all I got was a splitting headache . . .
Until I entered the sanctuary of God.
Then I saw the whole picture:
The slippery road you’ve put them on,
with a final crash in a ditch of delusions.
In the blink of an eye, disaster!
A blind curve in the dark, and—nightmare!
We wake up and rub our eyes….Nothing.
There’s nothing to them. And there never was.

21-24 When I was beleaguered and bitter,
totally consumed by envy,
I was totally ignorant, a dumb ox
in your very presence.
I’m still in your presence,
but you’ve taken my hand.
You wisely and tenderly lead me,
and then you bless me.

25-28 You’re all I want in heaven!
You’re all I want on earth!
When my skin sags and my bones get brittle,
God is rock-firm and faithful.
Look! Those who left you are falling apart!
Deserters, they’ll never be heard from again.
But I’m in the very presence of God—
oh, how refreshing it is!
I’ve made Lord God my home.
God, I’m telling the world what you do!
