Do you remember that line from Alice in Wonderland? As kids we were scared for Alice, we couldn’t understand how the Queen could request something so severe!

There is a story circulating in Georgia about a young man named Troy Davis, who is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection today, 9/21 at 7pm. I felt compelled to write a short blog about him today because…there is a strong chance this man is innocent. There has been a numerous amount of evidence that has come to the forefront that could very well prove that he is innocent of the crime he was charged for.

Check out the story here—->Troy Davis

I used to be an avid supporter of the death penalty. I will admit that it took time for me to truly understand that we are not to judge whether or not someone lives or dies…it is not up to us-no matter how severe their crime. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, {Romans 3:23} so who are we to determine someone else’s fate?   It is our job to show the love of Christ that can cover a multitude of sins. We are to forgive and move on and let God take care of the rest.”Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

I wanted you to be aware of what was happening and to remind you that you do not hold the fate of someone’s life in your hands. You don’t even control your own fate…

Your situation may not be as severe as the death penalty, but many of you “kill” someone whom you have not forgiven everyday. You try to control the fate of someone else because you harbor resentment and much like Troy Davis…they could be innocent. They may not ever intended to harm you, but you have charged them and want “off with their heads”.

Keep Troy Davis and the family of the victim in your prayers.
