Blog Archives

I woke up the other morning and was in deep thought most of the day. The title of this message had my mind in a boggle all day. How can we be Christians and still so lost and confused? Now I know everyone can feel this way at some point in their lives, but we are supposed to have unmeasurable hope and confidence that things will get better; and better than they were previous to our “slump”.  I know so many fellow Christians (including myself :)) who are in search for that open door. We all know that God closes one door to open another, we all know to press on because God has a greater plan for our lives…but what do you say to someone who knows the above and still finds themselves sad, confused, angry, resentful? What do you say to someone who is needs more than what your telling them?

We, at one point, are lost. We live in darkness and sin, we walk away from the direction that God has called us; we think we are happy but deep down we are searching for more. Eventually, we find more…we find Jesus. That void that we have been trying to fill, whatever it may be is now filled. Filled with a warmth and unexplainable joy; we light dark paths wherever we walk because Jesus is dwelling within us. Unicorns and little bunnies come up to us and eat fresh oats from our hands, the sun is always shining, sunflowers are growing up all around us and sometimes we even hear the birds singing a song.

And then it happens…life.

Your start to question why you’re here. You may lose your job.  You want to know what else is in store for you. Everyone around you seems to be moving up and you…well your still trying to get up on the first step. Through discouragement and disappointment you find yourself standing still refusing to move or your walking into a “room” that looks like it might have everything you desire. Your “room” could be the very thing that you thought would bring you what you need at that very moment. As we walk closer to the door, Jesus is behind us telling us not to walk through…but no…we know better right? So we walk through–and the door shuts behind us and now we find ourselves back in darkness.

We are walking around in this space, just existing, performing daily routines and not truly feeling the joy and fulfillment that God has promised us. We’re in jobs we can’t stand…we’re grateful for it but would choose something different LOL! We can’t stand where we are, but don’t know where were supposed to be. We walked into this room, so we know there is an exit. We know Jesus is with us because He said He would be, but He isn’t speaking. So now your sitting in silence and in darkness and with no kind of direction, but you are expected to lift your head, walk tall, because after all – there is something better beyond the darkness.

So what happens to that person who was lost and found and then found themselves lost again on a different level? This might sound crazy but you must begin to speak encouragement and patience over your/their heart and mind. Now now, I know… sounds cliche but trust me, it’s what works. Proverbs 12:25 says anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad. You may feel like Jesus is silent, but He isn’t!! He has already talked to you through His word…He is not speaking because He wants you to speak to Him. So the first thing I suggest is get into your Word. I don’t mean gloss over a verse or two. I really mean, pray before you open the Bible and ask God what He has for you. Really meditate on the verse or verses that speak directly to you. Find a situation in the Bible that you can relate to and study it until the revelation comes.

-That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. “I took on the troubles of the troubled,” is the way Scripture puts it. Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. {Romans 15:3-5} This scripture tells us that Jesus knows EXACTLY what He got himself into with you LOL, but He encourages you to turn to the Bible for what we need. The Scripture will characterize you and keep you alert to what He will do next!

-My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. {Psalm 121:2-3} This scriputure is telling you that you can remain calm and at peace in your darkness…you may grow weary and tired, but God will NEVER slumber. Know that everything works together for your good! Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. {1Peter 5:7}

The second thing I would suggest is to…encourage someone else. Find someone or something that you can give to. Volunteer your time, lend an ear to someone, hug someone. When we turn from ourselves and begin to focus on others we find joy and begin to reflect the life of Jesus. When you begin to reflect the life of Jesus, you will begin to think like Him. And because the Father created you, you will soon become One with His son whom will have no choice but to reveal to you the desires of your heart and the direction to the open door you’ve been searching for.

Stop getting distracted in everything going on around you. It has NOTHING to do with your ultimate purpose. Stop talking to yourself. You are you worst counselor! Only Jesus can take the mumbo jumbo in your heart and mind and make it make sense. The enemy uses the thoughts in your mind to keep you distracted. Keep your mind blinders on and stay focused on Him! Who cares if Suzy Q won the Nobel Peace prize and you haven’t won a bowling game yet LOL…IT’S OKAY! Who cares if your cousin has 12 degrees and working on her 13th! And you happy to have walked across your high school stage. Who said you aren’t able to go back to school?  Who cares if Monet Hardy’s hair is growing out of control and mine is still sprouting…LOL oops got personal!! ;).  I think you get my drift, Jesus loves you!!  You are right where you are supposed to be, because there is going to come a day where youe path will cross with someone who is going to feel EXACTLY like you. You are going to be the only person who can minister to that person. Suzy Q won’t even have a chance 😉 What is meant for you is for you, no man can take that away!

Please, please, please don’t give up the fight. Jesus didn’t give up on you, don’t give up on Him. He has so much in store for you! All you have to do is just trust Him! For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. {Jeremiah 29:11}

Stay encouraged! Your not alone and your definitely not lost my friend! Just Smile 🙂

Love Ya,

We all know the 4 seasons- Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall.  As each season approaches, we know that we have to change our wardrobe  to reflect the weather – coats for the Winter, Flip flops for the Summer, Linen in the spring and a nice Juicy Couture suit in the Fall 😉 (I had to throw that in there lol!) We know that the seasons will come like clockwork, just about every 3 months we can expect a shift in the weather usually around the same time, every year. We even know the reason for each season…as each one prior to the one that follows lends preparation for what’s to come.

Although God created the seasons, the seasons that we experience are quite different. At times, it can seem like our seasons last longer than 3 months….sometimes it seems like winter lasts for years with no sight of a spring blossom. The part that seems to be more troublesome is unlike the seasons named above, we don’t always know the reason before our season. Sometimes there’s no time to prepare for what’s to come. One day your in shorts and flip flops basking in the warm sun…the next morning you wake up in the middle of an ice storm. It’s life…it’s also God’s way of testing your faith in Him. Are you willing to let go and FULLY trust him in your best and worst seasons? Are you flexible enough to have flip flops on one day and a North Face coat on the next? Some seasons that we go through are as bitter cold as the North Pole, but you can always find warmth in the arms of our Father and in knowing that He is all knowing and a present help.

I draw your attention to Ecclesiastes 3:

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything

1 Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.

2 He sets the time for birth and the time for death,
the time for planting and the time for pulling up,
3 the time for killing and the time for healing,
the time for tearing down and the time for building.
4 He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy,
the time for mourning and the time for dancing,
5 the time for making love and the time for not making love,
the time for kissing and the time for not kissing.
6 He sets the time for finding and the time for losing,
the time for saving and the time for throwing away,
7 the time for tearing and the time for mending,
the time for silence and the time for talk.
8 He sets the time for love and the time for hate,
the time for war and the time for peace.

9 What do we gain from all our work?10 I know the heavy burdens that God has laid on us.11 He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does.12 So I realized that all we can do is be happy and do the best we can while we are still alive.13 All of us should eat and drink and enjoy what we have worked for. It is God’s gift.

14 I know that everything God does will last forever. You can’t add anything to it or take anything away from it. And one thing God does is to make us stand in awe of him.15 Whatever happens or can happen has already happened before. God makes the same thing happen again and again.

Injustice in the World

16 In addition, I have also noticed that in this world you find wickedness where justice and right ought to be.17 I told myself,
God is going to judge the righteous and the evil alike, because every thing, every action, will happen at its own set time.18 I decided that God is testing us, to show us that we are no better than animals.19 After all, the same fate awaits human beings and animals alike. One dies just like the other. They are the same kind of creature. A human being is no better off than an animal, because life has no meaning for either.20 They are both going to the same place—the dust. They both came from it; they will both go back to it.21 How can anyone be sure that the human spirit goes upward while an animal’s spirit goes down into the ground?22 So I realized then that the best thing we can do is enjoy what we have worked for. There is nothing else we can do. There is no way for us to know what will happen after we die.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!  This you must understand. If you know and love God then you must also understand that, “…God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose.” {Romans 8:28}

There is NOTHING, whether large or small, comfortable to ya or the worse feeling ever, fun or boring, happy or brings sadness,that will not carry a purpose or a lesson.  The journey is just as important as the destination. God will put you in a place where you have no choice but to trust him and wait. It’s up to you whether or not your going to allow God to mold and shape you in preparation for your next season…or you can be pitiful and stay right where you are; no growth, no additional blessings….just mediocrity.

I love this quote by Joyce Meyer, “You can be pitiful or powerful…but you can’t be both.” Decided to grab hold of the power inside of you, press through your season, learn your reason and teach someone else!

Love Ya!
